Sneak peek – what’s to come in the first stage of main works

The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is a major redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital and will include the construction of new buildings on site, undertaken over two stages of main works. The first stage is due for completion in late 2023.

To enable demolition of existing buildings, site establishment will commence once the current construction pause is lifted. Works will see a range of access changes for vehicles and pedestrians travelling to the hospital.

Site establishment impacts from September*:

  • Entrance B stair closure: Currently providing access to Level 1 (including the General Manager’s Unit), these stairs will permanently close to enable installation of construction hoarding .
  •  P1 car park: The P1 (Elizabeth Street) car park entry and exit ramps will permanently close. Visitors will need to access alternate parking in P2 car park off Campbell Street or P3 car park off Burnside Drive.
  • Entrance B lifts: The main entry lifts (Lift A) located at Entrance B will permanently close. Visitors will use Lifts B and C, located along the main concourse, to access all levels. Staff can use Lift X located in the staff only corridor.
  • Elizabeth Street, front forecourt: Construction hoarding will be installed around the future construction zone, closing the turning circle and current main entry. An alternate pedestrian entry will be created off Elizabeth Street, adjacent to Emergency.

As construction gets underway, we’ll keep you informed of impacts via our project communications. Be sure to keep an eye out for our future newsletters and visit the Precinct Updates page on our website for the latest impacts to hospital access.
