Colourful addition to future car park

Artist impression of the large scale artwork on the future car park
Inspired by flower petals from across the Gandangara region and the rich Aboriginal history of the Liverpool region, the highly anticipated façade design of the new $50 million multi-storey car park has been revealed.

A striking design developed by Indigenous artist Bibi Barba in collaboration with Aboriginal Elders, services and community members, celebrates the local region’s environmental and cultural diversity through shape and colour on a mass scale.

“I’m so proud to have been involved in such a significant local project and to have worked together with community to champion an authentic Aboriginal design, inspired by our rich history in the area,” Ms Barba said.

The visual appeal of the car park façade design will give the hospital site a distinctive identity and has been embraced by local schools and hospital staff who were engaged throughout design development.

The arts play an important role in our hospitals to create an environment that will assist recovery and provide welcoming, safe and connected spaces for all who visit – from the moment they arrive on campus.

To enhance the patient, visitor and staff experience, this installation will be the first of many to come as part of the arts and culture strategy for the project.
