Final design approvALs underway

Library Manager Gia Vigh (right) signs-off on final designs for the new library to be delivered in 2026
A critical part of the hospital redevelopment is the input of staff and other stakeholders in the planning of new spaces, and a key milestone for each of our Project User Groups (PUGs) is the final sign-off of detailed designs that will inform the build.

Our library team was the first of dozens of PUGs to reach this important stage in the planning process, and Library Manager Gia Vigh expressed excitement for the technology enhancements and improved library access that will be delivered as a result of the hospital redevelopment.

“Our new library design was developed through extensive consultation with staff, museum volunteers, universities and affiliated students, resulting in a truly inclusive new space” Gia said.

“Although it may seem a long way off, the team is looking forward to the final move to our new, modern library in 2026. As well as modern technology to support research and learning, the new space will offer study hubs, public computers and cubicles for individual training and research, along with group study areas and meeting rooms.”

The hospital’s library service supports staff, academics and students based at Liverpool Hospital, Eastern Campus and across South Western Sydney Local Health District.

While construction is underway, the Ken Merten Library will temporarily move to the Don Everett building from January 2021.
