Introducing Celsus, our newly named tower crane

More than 100 primary school students entered our multi-storey car park Name the Crane competition, which saw many creative name suggestions submitted on beautifully coloured-in entry forms – making it a tough decision for our judges!

The winning entries were determined by a panel of hospital and project management staff, with scoring based on the creativity of the suggested name and the meaning behind it.

A crane naming ceremony was recently held to celebrate the winner and finalists, with the crane’s name now displayed proudly for all to see. Congratulations to Charlotte (aged 10) from West Hoxton who cleverly chose the winning name CELSUS – a Latin word meaning tall or lofty. Celsus was also the name of one of the greatest Ancient Roman medical writers.

Charlotte was awarded with an iPad for her efforts, along with a replica of the name flag. Yvette (aged 11) won second prize, receiving a Introducing Celsus, our newly named tower crane! $100 voucher, and equal third winners Marcus and Malcolm (both aged 10) received $50 vouchers.

All competition prizes were generously donated by multi-storey car park project builders ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd.

A striking red name flag is now flown a splendid 40-metres high above the multi-storey car park construction site at the end of each work day. Well done to everyone who entered the competition and congratulations to all of our finalists!
