Breaking through into a new era for our hospital

The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct project has achieved a new major milestone, with work starting to link the new four-storey tower with the existing hospital.

Liverpool Hospital Acting General Manager Scott McGrath said the breakthrough process to link the existing Clinical Services Building with the new tower was a fantastic achievement for the project.

“It is exciting to see work starting on this important connection between the buildings,’’ Mr McGrath said.

“The redevelopment is really taking shape now and I am delighted we are one step closer to opening our doors to the community in 2024.’’

Staff, patients and visitors will use alternate travel routes at the western end of the hospital during the breakthrough works, which will be completed in two phases.

Once the first phase is completed in the coming months, the second phase will start in early 2024 with further changes to corridors.
