The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct’s arts strategy is a wonderful opportunity to engage our multicultural community in Liverpool Hospital’s redevelopment, and connect people of all cultures and backgrounds through vibrant designs and colours. Twenty community representatives were invited to Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre to bring their ideas to help shape the arts strategy for the redevelopment with the aim of creating a welcoming and supportive hospital. The collaborative process identified five key themes that will be implemented into the wall art design of patient and public spaces in the new hospital building. During the design process, a lead artist will work with five community artists to develop the internal wall art for five hospital floors that represents the diverse community of Liverpool.
We would like to thank our community for taking their time to be part of this special discussion, as well as the SWSLHD Multicultural Health Services team for its help in bringing the community together for this special day. Stay tuned as we look forward to seeing what our artists develop in future newsletter editions.
